IPTV Smarters Pro UK: what it is and how the player works

What is IPTV Smarters Pro?

IPTV Smarters Pro is a player: software that loads an IPTV service and shows its channels, programme guide and on-demand sections on your screen. It was developed by WHMCS Smarters, which describes itself as a software development company that doesn’t sell subscriptions, streams or content.

It’s important to be precise about which app you mean, because many other apps now use similar names. The next sections explain what we could verify about the names, versions and devices.

IPTV Smarters Pro vs an IPTV subscription

Installing the IPTV Smarters player doesn’t give you an IPTV subscription, channels, playlists or login details. The developer’s store listings are explicit that the app is a media player only and that users must supply their own content. The access details come from your IPTV service; the app simply uses them.

IPTV Smarters Pro, Smarters Player Lite and lookalikes

The naming can be confusing, so here’s what we could confirm when we checked in September 2026:

• IPTV Smarters Pro is the name of WHMCS Smarters’ original player, and many people shorten it to “IPTV Smarters”.
• On Google Play, the original listing is no longer available. In December 2022 a court in Madrid ordered its withdrawal from Google Play following a complaint by LaLiga, the Spanish football league.
• On the Apple App Store in the UK, WHMCS Smarters publishes an app called Smarters Player Lite for iPhone and iPad.
• Lookalikes: searching the UK App Store for “IPTV Smarters” returns more than twenty apps with similar names from many different developers.

A similar name doesn’t mean the same app or the same developer. Before installing anything called “Smarters”, check who publishes it in the store listing.

Which devices can use IPTV Smarters?

Guides online often list IPTV Smarters for almost every device, but availability varies by platform and country and has changed over time. What we could verify:

• iPhone and iPad: WHMCS Smarters’ Smarters Player Lite is listed on the UK App Store. We couldn’t confirm a version for Apple TV.
• Android, Android TV and Fire TV: the original app is no longer listed on Google Play, and we couldn’t confirm a listing in the Amazon Appstore. Copies circulate on download sites, but their origin can’t be verified; see the security section below.
• Samsung TVs: Samsung’s US app store website lists the app from WHMCS Smarters. We couldn’t confirm the UK store, and what’s available on a Samsung TV varies by model and year.
• LG TVs, Windows and Mac: we couldn’t verify current official versions.

How IPTV Smarters connects to an IPTV service

The player connects to your service using the details the service gives you. The developer’s listings mention two formats:

• Xtream Codes-style login: a server address, username and password. The Samsung store listing for the app states that it supports the Xtream Codes API.
• M3U playlist: a link to a list of streams. The App Store listing for Smarters Player Lite states that it supports M3U and JSON playlists; it doesn’t mention Xtream Codes, so check the app itself if your service only offers a login.

The Samsung listing also says IPTV service providers register their server with the developer for the app to work with their service. In practice, that means you should check with your service that its access details work with this particular app before relying on it.

What you need before using the player

1. A compatible device with a genuine version of the app available.
2. An IPTV service, and its confirmation that the app works with it.
3. Your access details from that service, in a format the app accepts.
4. A stable internet connection, ideally the one you’ll normally watch on.

The player doesn’t create or supply any of these details. The installation centre explains what to have ready on each type of device.

Security and where to get the app

Because the app’s name is so widely used, and the original is no longer on Google Play, you’ll find many unofficial copies. Install only from your device’s official app store, and only where the listing shows WHMCS Smarters as the developer. Be wary of APK files and installers from websites you don’t know: they may be outdated, modified or bundled with unwanted software, and you can’t tell who made them.

Common set-up problems

When something goes wrong, work out whether it comes from the details, the player, your network or the service:

• Login rejected: usually a typing error or a detail in the wrong field; check the server address, username and password against what your service sent. It can also mean the service doesn’t support this app.
• Wrong server address: copy it exactly, including any port number your service includes.
• Unsupported format: if the version you installed only accepts playlists, a login won’t work, and vice versa.
• App not available for your device: don’t hunt for downloads; choose another player instead.
• Programme guide not loading: give it time on first load, and check with your service that guide data is provided.
• Buffering: often a Wi-Fi or home-network issue rather than the app; see what to do if the picture freezes and what broadband you need.

Is IPTV Smarters Pro the right player for you?

It can be a reasonable choice if all of the following are true:

• a genuine version from WHMCS Smarters is available for your device;
• it accepts the access format your service supplies, and your service supports it;
• it works comfortably with your remote or touchscreen;
• it shows the programme guide and features you need.

A trial is a practical way to check a player and a service together before committing:

1. Request trial access from the IPTV service.
2. Receive the access details, and confirm the format and that the player is supported.
3. Enter them into a compatible player on your device.
4. Test on the device and home connection you’ll actually use.
